Mandatory conformity assessment procedure before loading.
SONCAP includes two phases
The first phase, called Product Certification, applies only to the initial export of a specific type of controlled product to Nigeria. Exporters who have passed product certification can obtain a Product Certificate, which can last up to three years.
The second phase is called the "Mandate of the Nigerian National Bureau of Standards Mandatory Conformity Assessment Procedures" (hereinafter referred to as SONCAP certification) and applies to certain pre-shipment goods. Both of the above certifications are handled at the SON Country Office of Nigeria's National Bureau of Standards.
The SONCAP Certificate is a statutory and mandatory instrument for the control of customs clearance procedures at Nigerian Customs. The lack of a SONCAP Certificate will result in delayed or rejected entry of controlled products into the Nigerian domestic market. In particular, it is important to note that SONCAP is suitable for regulating products, and other import procedures stipulated by the Nigerian government are still valid.
SONCAP Certification Profile
